Today’s Nonfiction post is on Bygone Badass Broads: 52 Forgotten Women Who Changed the World by Mackenzi Lee (Author), and Petra Eriksson (Illustrations). It is 176 pages long and is published by Harry N. Abrams. The cover is very colorful illustrations of some of the women talked about inside. The intended reader is someone who is interested in women’s forgotten history. There is mild foul language, talk of sex and rape, and mild violence in this book. There Be Spoilers Ahead.
From the back of the book- Based on Mackenzi Lee’s popular weekly Twitter series of the same name, Bygone Badass Broads features 52 remarkable and forgotten trailblazing women from all over the world. With tales of heroism and cunning, in-depth bios and witty storytelling, Bygone Badass Broads gives new life to these historic female pioneers. Starting in the fifth century BC and continuing to the present, the book takes a closer look at bold and inspiring women who dared to step outside the traditional gender roles of their time. Coupled with riveting illustrations and Lee’s humorous and conversational storytelling style, this book is an outright celebration of the badass women who paved the way for the rest of us.
Review- This is a fun and fast-paced read about some very interesting women and the world they lived in. Lee gives the reader a fast breakdown of the woman in question with a beautiful portrait of the woman at the start of the chapter. It is a little light on details but the essentials are covered like what the woman did that was so interesting from scientific discovers to just living the they wanted to without apologizing to anyone for it. This book is a good way to jump start interest into little or at least lesser known historical characters. Very fun and I would like to read more about these women and more from Lee herself.

I give this book a Five out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I borrowed this book from my local library.
