Prince Freya, Vol. 2

Today's manga post is on Prince Freya, Vol. 2 by Keiko Ishihara. It is 192 pages long and is published by Shojo Beat. The cover has Alek on with his brother reflected in his sword. As it is the second volume in the series, you need to have read the first volume to understand the story. The intended reader is someone who likes intense plots with wars themes. There is some mild foul language, no sex, and violence in this manga. The story is told from third person close of Freya. There Be Spoilers Ahead.

From the back of the manga- Freya finds her charade as Prince Edvard difficult to maintain as she battles her own crushing grief and treacherous Tyrish nobles. With the help of her dear friend Alek and her new guardian Sir Julius, however, she’s determined not to give up. But will her new resolve and impulsive nature send her straight into the jaws of danger?!

Review- This volume picks up with Freya seeing one of her guards being kidnapped and she chases after them. In this volume she learns more about how corrupt the nobles are and what Prince Edvard was really fighting against. She has to prove herself and continue to fool everyone else that she is the real prince to save her kingdom. I am enjoying the very heavy political themes in this manga but I am not sure where the story is going, this is a story about getting free from an evil empire or a story about a girl becoming a true leader of her people? I also do not know what genre this manga is yet but I am enjoying it and I look forward to seeing what Freya is going to do next.

I give this volume a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.

Today's manga post is on Oresama Teacher, Vol. 1 by Izumi Tsubaki. It is 192 pages long and is published by Shojo Beat. The cover has the main character, Mafuyu on it. The intended reader is someone who likes funny shojo manga. There is no foul language, no sex, and mild comedy violence in this manga. The story is told from third person close of the main character. There Be Spoilers Ahead.

From the back of the manga- Can high school delinquent Mafuyu clean up her act and still kick some butt?!
Mafuyu is the no-nonsense, take-charge and hard-hitting leader of he high school gang. But when she gets expelled for being a delinquent, her mother, fed up with her daughter's wayward ways, sends Mafuyu to an isolated school far off in the country.
Determined to make the best of the situation and make her mother proud, Mafuyu decides to turn over a new, feminine, well-behaved leaf. But her fighting spirit can't be kept down, and the night before school starts she finds herself defending some guy who's getting beaten up. One slip wouldn't have been a problem, except the guy is…her teacher?! How can Mafuyu learn to be a good girl if her teacher won't let her forget her wicked past?

Review- This is a pretty funny manga about a girl with a strong sense of justice who has a reputation as a bad girl. Her mother sends to a private school to try and get her away from her old 'gang'. But instead she finds the old friend who give her the reputation instead as a teacher. So she is trying to make friends but still wants to stand up to bullies. So she has to make some choices in coming volumes and I think that it will be funny to see what she is going to do next.

I give this volume a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money. r

What's Wrong with Secretary Kim? Vol. 1

Today's post is on What's Wrong with Secretary Kim? Vol. 1 by MyeongMi Kim (artist) and GyeongYun Jeong (Original author). It is 240 pages long and is published by Yen Press. The cover is pink with Secretary Kim on it pulling a tie that going to the back cover and the Vice Chairman is on the back. The intended reader is someone who likes humorous love stories with dark secrets. There is mild foul language, no sex, and no violence in this book. The story is told from third person perspective. There Be Spoilers Ahead.

From the back of the book- Vice Chairman Youngjun Lee and Secretary Miso Kim have been the star duo of their company for nine years...until Miso suddenly decides to quit! But Youngjun is smart, rich, and used to getting what he wants—and he wants Miso to stay. So when he discovers she’s leaving in order to find a husband, the only logical way to keep her at his side is...offering to marry her?! Too bad she’s just not that into him!

Review- This is a hilarious comedy with romance. Miso Kim just wants to get married, have a child, and never see her boss again. He is very OCD, and as far as he is concerned, their live is perfect. So he shocked when Miso tells him that she is leaving. He decides that he is going to do whatever it takes to keep her with him, even marry her himself! This is a very funny comedy of errors and manners. I would recommend this and if you really like it, you can try the TV show that is based on this.

I give this volume a Five out of Five stars. I borrowed this manga from my local library and I receive nothing for my review.

Kiss Him, Not Me!, Vol. 5

Today's post is on Kiss Him, Not Me!, Vol. 5 by Junko. It is 160 pages long and is published by Kodansha Comics. The cover has Kae with two of the main leads on it. As it is the fifth in the series, you need to have read the first four volumes to understand the story. The intended reader is someone who likes comedy, shojo, and manga tropes. There is no foul language, no sex, and no violence in this manga. The story is told from third person close of the main character, Kae. There Be Spoilers Ahead.

From the back of the manga- Kae here! Summer vacation is over, but back at school, even cool gentlemanly Mutsumi-senpai is turning up the heat around me, so I guess even he has an intense side?
I'm seeing his passion even more now that his older brother, Mr. Mutsumi, has become a student-teacher at our school...and wants to whisk me away from all four boys!
It's brother vs. brother as the Mutsumi men both try to win my affections, but I'm enjoying this action! A fiery battle between two gorgeous bothers and a teacher-student setup?!
I never thought I'd get to see so much taboo in the flesh! I wonder if the boys can outwit such a mischievous older man...

Review- This volume is very cute. Kae's senpai Mustsumi has not really thought about his feels for her and when his brother, a student teacher, expresses interest in her, Mustsumi has to think about his feelings. Some good character growth in this volume with Kae and Mutsumi. Of course there is still Kae being a fan girl and having very silly thoughts about the boys around her. I am curious if the story is going to become a little more serious, if so I don't think that would be a bad thing.

I give this volume a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.
